ClickBank Product Security Concerns That You Should Be Aware Of

Shoplifting and theft are a big thing in the offline retail world and a lot of security has been put in place to counteract these measures. In the online world also, security is a primary focus also for business owners, and this is especially true with the website of ClickBank.com.

ClickBank.com is an affiliate marketplace where people sign up to promote digital products of internet merchants. ClickBank is very popular and as a result of their popularity, many thieves try their best to “break the system” and get digital products for free.

This is a big concern for internet merchants who sell their product on ClickBank, and is something that you should be concerned about also if you’re selling your product through them also. There are ways to counteract theft with ClickBank, and this is what this article will touch on. You should do everything that you can to protect your profits since you worked on giving your ingenuity in the form of an informational product.

One great way to prevent ClickBank product theft is to not link to your download page from other pages on your website. You shouldn’t try to further your marketing efforts by doing this as it can be problematic for you as your website rankings increase. To be safe, the only way that some should be able to download your product is if they click on the ClickBank payment link and order your product.

You shouldn’t link to your product from other pages of your website as this can create a “backdoor” to your product download page. The page you’re linking from may show up in the search engines, thereby allowing others to download your product. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing may find your webpages and rank them high in their search results. Many merchants dream of being ranked high in the search engines, but I’m sure that this isn’t the way that they want to do it.

There is one way around search engine problem and that is with something called a “robots.txt” file. With this file, you’re telling the search engines not to crawl certain areas of your website. The search engines will read this file, and whatever directories you list not to show in the search engines they won’t crawl.

The technique has its perks, and its drawback. The perk is that your files won’t get leaked via the search engines. But the drawback is that hackers know about this file and will use it to their advantage to find out where your products are. You have to decide what is more important to the security of your product and your website when listing your products for sale.

There are some things however that are out of your control when protecting your download links. Some people will take your download page and post them all over the internet for others to see. The amount of theft that occurs from this happening is very small, but if you have a good security system in place, then you shouldn’t be too concerned about this.

The security of your ClickBank product is a must if you want to earn more sales and protect your profits. Good luck with implementing security in your products, and earning more money with ClickBank.

Understanding ClickBank – Can Someone Steal My Sales?

Do you want to ensure that your ClickBank sales are credited to you, and you alone?

Have you been a ClickBank sale theft victim?

In your quest to fully understanding ClickBank, are you aware that it is a simple task for a thief to claim your hard earned commission?

There are rumors that fly around regarding the security of your ClickBank affiliate links and, as such, I am often asked, can someone steal my sales? The short answer is yes, your ClickBank sales can be stolen right from under your nose.

Now, not being a technical person, nor a thief who would try to implement this theft technique, I cannot tell you how to steal someone else’s sales, but I can certainly assist with ensuring you are credited for the sales you make.

However, having said that, what a ClickBank thief will endeavor to do is to replace your ClickBank ID in your product hoplink with their own, and therefore, when a sale is made it’s credited to the thief’s ClickBank account, not yours.

So, how can I prevent someone from stealing my ClickBank sales, I hear you ask?

You need to hide the ClickBank vendor ID in two specific places:

  • in the order link on the vendor sales page
  • in the affiliate URL

You can use the following techniques to hide your ClickBank hoplinks:

  • a redirect link – your own website is required for this, which you can pick up for about $1. For detailed instructions on how to do this, ClickBank has excellent help pages within their site that I recommend you read if you don’t know how to redirect a link.
  • a cloaked link produced by an affiliate cloaking program, some of which can be used for free.
  • a tracking URL, of which there are also plenty on the internet, and I recommend you do your research and choose a program that suits your needs.

The reality is that your ClickBank commission is at risk, but with a little bit of effort and research, you are able to ensure the security of your ClickBank sales.

ClickBank Adds Analytics So You Can Track Sales, Leads and More

ClickBank has done more in 2009 to make things easier for product sellers and affiliates like than in any year before this. We’ve personally made almost $300,000 in ClickBank, and they have paid quite a few people a lot more than they are paying us. We continue to make great sales with ClickBank each month and they continue to rise.

There are some important changes to the ClickBank Landscape that you need to be aware of that will affect you as a product merchant or an affiliate. Of course all of these changes are positive and will only make your life easier. It’s obvious they are keeping up with the times and are serious about link security as well as helping people make sales.

Once you log into your ClickBank account, you will see your Weekly Sales Snapshot. Click any of these links. You’ll notice on the right you’ll see a Icon that says Analytics New. Then click on that. Before I go on let me say that a hop is someone who clicks on your ClickBank Hoplink. You will now be able to get graphical views of your Hops, Order Form Impressions, Order Form Submits, Gross Sales, Net Sales, Refunds and Chargebacks.

You will also be able to check on the Number of Hops, Hops Per Order and Hops Per Order Form Impressions. Also ClickBank is adding a Vendor Spotlight Profile section soon. This means that merchants selling products on ClickBank will be able to setup their own profile for other merchants and affiliates to see. This can bring you lots of free business if you are a product seller.

Now if this wasn’t good enough, you can even post one announcement every week on your Vendor Spotlight Profile. Merchants and Affiliates can come by and read this anytime and this can get you great extra business if you decide to take advantage of this feature.

Two other upgrades worth mentioning are that you can promote products now in 3 other countries besides the United States. These countries now include Spanish, French and German. You can search for these programs within the ClickBank Marketplace. Also back in April 2009 they added the Encrypted Hoplink feature.

In a nutshell how this works is you visit the ClickBank Marketplace and search for a product you are interested in promoting. You enter your ID, which you can get for free if you don’t have one by clicking the Sign Up link at the top of their page. Once you find the product you are interested in promoting, you enter your ID and an Encryped Hoplink is automatically generated for you.

The old ClickBank Hoplinks still work but you can only generate encrypted links from their marketplace of products from April 2009 forward. The back office for Product Sellers and Affiliates look exactly the same in case you weren’t aware of this. Plus if you go look in your Affiliate Back Office you’ll notice the entire user interface has been changed for the better.

I personally like the look and feel of it more than the old one and it gives you more options than I mentioned in this article but I just wanted to highlight the major changes. I don’t know about you but I’m really pumped up about all these new changes. They will make are life a whole lot easier as a ClickBank Product Seller or Affiliate.

Affiliate Marketing Made Easy With ClickBank

If you’re interested in earning some extra income with affiliate marketing then your first stop should be signing up for a free ClickBank account. Why?

ClickBank make getting into affiliate marketing super easy. In fact it’s so easy it can be summarized in three basic steps.

  1. Sign up for a free ClickBank account
  2. Find a ClickBank product to promote
  3. Promote your hoplink

Let’s go through those steps one at a time. You’ll quickly see why so many affiliates choose to use ClickBank as the basis of their business.

#1 Sign up for a free ClickBank account

Complete the ClickBank sign-up and enter your details. When you’ve finished, wait for an email that will include an 8-digit confirmation code. You’ll need to enter this code into the Clickbank site to complete the sign-up process.

If you have a US address and earn over US$600 before the end of the financial year, then you’ll need to enter an Employer Identification Number (for businesses) or a Social Security Number (for individuals) in the Tax ID field. Since you can add these details later you don’t need to worry about that when you’re signing up.

Keep the activation email safe as it will also include your account nickname and password (the same as your confirmation code).

Now you’re ready to log in to ClickBank. Use the login details you received in the email and then browse to the Marketplace.

#2 Find a ClickBank Product to Promote

In the ClickBank Marketplace you’ll find products organized into different categories. If you have already chosen a niche, such as health products, then browse to the Health & Fitness category. If you’re not sure you can just browse the different categories systematically to find a product to promote. Or use the search box and see what comes up.

Things you should look for in a good product to promote include:

A gravity of more than 30 (which indicates the product is currently selling well)

Multiple products in the same category (so you can create a review page)

A compelling landing page (i.e. one that does a good job of explaining why you would want to buy this product)

While not critical, it can help if you’re naturally interested or experienced with the niche. This will help you to write effective sales pages.

When you’ve decided on a product to promote, it’s time to get your hoplink.

#3 Promote your Hoplink

Firstly, what is a hoplink? A hoplink is a normal hyperlink that links to the merchant’s product page and includes your affiliate code. Whenever anyone clicks on your hoplink, they are taken to the product page and can choose to buy the product. If they buy the commission will be credited to you. Details of how many people clicked your hoplink and how many bought the product can be viewed in your ClickBank account.

Some sites will keep details of this referral for anywhere up to 60 days after the person first visits the merchant’s page, meaning that if they buy within that period (and haven’t clicked on another affiliate’s hoplink in the meantime) that sale will be credited to you.

To create a hoplink, select a product from the Clickbank Marketplace and click Create HopLink, located below the product listing. This will pop open a new window, where you’ll enter your ClickBank nickname, an optional Tracking ID, and click Create. The Tracking ID can be anything you like and can be used to see where most of your clicks are coming from. For example, you might decide to create different hoplinks for your Facebook page and Twitter accounts, so you can see which is generating the most sales. The hoplink is automatically encrypted for your protection.

Remember to make sure you copy the hoplink correctly so you don’t miss out on any potential commission!

Lastly, an important rule to remember is that if you want to get a good return on your time, money and efforts, you should promote products to audiences that might be interested in them, such as related forums and blogs. This principle goes for other common promotional techniques like article writing or tapping into your social network- the more relevant and useful the product is to your audience, the better your sales will be.

With ClickBank you can go from knowing nothing about affiliate marketing to earning commissions in next to no time!

Clickbank – Affiliate Marketing at Its Best

There are tons of affiliate programs out there that offer internet entrepreneurs, the answers to fulfill every network marketer’s dream: to maximize profitability by guarantying optimal results from targeted advertising.

However, with the online scams that are rampant for a beginning small business, how do you know who to trust?

The response to this question in my opinion is naturally, Clickbank.

What is Clickbank?

According to Clickbank administration’s answer to this question, the following is their explanation:

“Clickbank, started in 1998, is an online leader when it comes to selling digitally delivered goods. The range from software to ebooks customers are offered a wide variety of digital products. Clickbank is the leader in the sale of digital products the world over with the advantage of over 100,000 tested and true associates. A stringent security system with security measures in place to lessen the risk of internet fraud is provided by Clickbank.”

Basic Aspects of Clickbank:

The word of a fellow affiliate should not be the basis for your decision to use Clickbank for your needs. Instead let us see what the basic aspects of Clickbank are and this will allow you to decide if Clickbank is in your best interests.

Dealer Account:

Because Clickbank is a large internet marketing supplier of digital products of all sorts, vendors are allowed to sell digital products without a merchant account.

Affiliate Marketing:

Clickbank also lets affiliates endorse and advertise their products and earn commissions for the sales they are responsible for. The affiliate signup is easy and this is responsible for a lot of new people joining the Clickbank company.

Advantages for Affiliates:

When you become an affiliate of Clickbank you will get immediate entry to over 10,000 products of all types which you can advertise on the internet and will be seen by millions of people. The great thing is you can join Clickbank as an affiliate for free.

The profitable part for affiliates is that most Clickbank items will make a generous profit. This will make it even more profitable for the top affiliates to literally make thousands of dollars every month. The Clickbank products are in categories according to how popular they are and this allows you to choose which items will sell better in todays market.

Clickbank items provide some of the highest commissions on products and some are even offering higher commissions than any other affiliate program. This may be because the digital products Clickbank sells are not subject to extra packaging and other charges. Affiliate commissions on Clickbank are normally higher than 20% and some may be as high as 85%.

I find that Clickbank is a company that does exactly what they say they do and sends out commission checks every two weeks as regular as clockwork.

There are thousands of affiliates who work with Clickbank and this makes very good sense to sell your digital products by using Clickbank. Just a couple of clicks will allow you the use of a well-organized affiliate sales team.

For a nominal one time charge of about $50, you can have your own account to sell digital products on Clickbank.

Any online business entrepreneur who has a website or is contemplating setting up an internet business can enjoy many profits by getting a Clickbank account and advertising digital products. I can honestly say that a Clickbank account has been very rewarding and if used correctly can allow a wide range of clients to peruse your products.
