3 Ways You Can Make Money With Clickbank

There is only one thing you need to do in order to make money with Clickbank. You must get people to visit the website that you’re getting a commission for. There are a few different ways you can do this. Below, I will list the three most effective ways to generate visitors to your Clickbank affiliate website, so you can make more money with clickbank.

First of all, Clickbank is the most reliable affiliate network on the internet, by always paying their affiliates on time every two weeks. Clickbank also pays you the highest commissions out of any affiliate network online, up to 75 percent. And it’s free to become a Clickbank Affiliate and promote their products. Clickbank only deals with digital-downloadable products/information. Giving you and me (the affiliates) a very generous commission because the markup on digital downloadable products is huge.

Hopefully you already have a Clickbank affiliate id. If you don’t, make one at Clickbank.com it’s free and easy. Then create a hoplink for the product you want to promote, at the Clickbank marketplace. Choose a product with a gravity rating of atleast 30. This means that people are already making money by promoting that product. So if the product already converts visitors into buyers, that’s what you want to promote. Now lets look at the top three strategies to getting visitors to your affiliate website.

Strategy 1: Create a blog to post your affiliate link on. Believe it or not blogging is a very effective and free way to get people to visit your affiliate website. You can create a blog at blogger.com if you don’t already have one. Example: If the Clickbank product you’re promoting is a book about dog training then create a blog about dog training. Write in your blog how a certain type of dog training works better than others and why, then paste your affiliate hoplink at the bottom of your blog. And list a couple of benefits the person will get by clicking on your hoplink. And most of the time, people will click where you tell them to. Then ping your blog at pingomatic.com so that all the search engines pick it up. Search engines like to index blogs because of their regularly updated content.

Strategy 2: Write articles to promote your affiliate product. Article marketing is the most effective and affordable way to get targeted traffic to your affiliate website. Considering it works and it’s free. Using dog training as an example still, write a couple of articles about dog training. Then paste your affiliate link in the resource box at the bottom of the article and tell your readers to visit that link to help with their dog training. One article can send thousands of people to your website or your affiliate website for years. And it’s free.

Strategy 3: Using PPC search engines. Google AdWords or Yahoo Search Marketing. PPC stands for pay-per-click search engines. This means that Google and yahoo will put you on the front page in position 1 or 2 or 3 or whatever position you want to be in and they will charge you 10 cents per click for people that click on your website. Usually if you rack up 10 dollars in clicks you’ll have one or two sales. Which will give you like 25-50 dollars. So you invest a little and get more back. If you do a search for ‘AdWords tutorial’ you can find all of the information you need on pay per click. Don’t be scared of PPC because it costs a little bit of money. It does put you on the front page of search listings and it does make sales. I’ve invested a hundred and fifty dollars in PPC and made thousands in return. You don’t need to pay anything to make money with Clickbank though, it’s just a way to instantly make money in a couple hours.

…To make big money with Clickbank use all 3 strategies. And don’t be scared to invest a small amount of money in yourself and your business. Luckily to make money online you don’t have to invest any money, but the investments you can make are all less than 100 dollars. And usually bring you thousands in return. If you don’t invest any money then it will just take a little bit longer to see a profit that’s all.

ClickBank Affiliates Are Losers by Default – Part Two

So after you cloak your Hoplinks and pray that cookies work properly, then comes the vendors’ outright cheating. The first type of vendors’ fraud is about presenting other payment options such as PayPal, 2CheckOut, or even their own merchant account. You should understand at this point that ClickBank commissions are earned ONLY if customers pay via ClickBank. If they choose to pay via any other ways, affiliates don’t get anything. Vendors can do introduce other payment gateways either on the same “order page,” or more intricately, on a more popular page. For example, a vendor can set up their sales page for ClickBank affiliates on a special URL that is not even listed in any search engines, like “http://www.vendor-site.com/click-bank-only.html.” In the mean time, the main page of that site, [http://www.vendor-site.com/index.html], which is listed in search engines and more easily accessible, accepts only other non-ClickBank payment methods. Now, how often does a typical visitor decide to buy right away on the first visit? Not very often. They are more likely to buy on subsequent visits, more likely from the main page instead of the unpopular page for hoplinks.

The other type of vendors’ fraud is their use of weird methods to navigate around their sites, like re-direct script, cloaking scripts, frames, etc. which causes ClickBank to lose track of affiliate ID. I have tested several of such vendors, where my affiliate ID never showed up at ClickBank check-out page (it’s always [Affiliate = none]). If you ask the vendor or ClickBank representatives, of course what you’re told will just be something like “credits are properly applied, regardless of whether your affiliate ID shows up or not…” In other words, they will just tell you “Have faith in our system!” Well, can you? I just can’t.

Even if a vendor doesn’t deliberately cheat on their ClickBank affiliates, a “follow-up” system will practically strip away your commissions as a ClickBank affiliate. How does it happen? Let me give an example. You send traffic via hoplink to a vendor, who has an outstanding opt-in form that attract visitors to sign up. Whether in opt-in form promises free products or more information, most visitors tend to sign up the list instead of diving into buying right away. Now, a large portion of these visitors eventually buy the product that you sent traffic for, but this time, it’s extremely unlikely that ClickBank can credit your affiliate account with the commissions! Why? In theory, ClickBank’s cookies can stay in the visitor’s computer for like 30 or 60 days. So you may still get your commissions IF the customer use the same browser, never clear cookies, and never click on another hoplink for the same product. This is tough! Let’s say, if you’re lucky enough that the visitor uses the same browser with cookies intact, the vendor can just send an email to that visitor with his own hoplink (of course cloaked under some nice URL). Once the visitor click on this new hoplink to buy the product, commissions will go to somebody else’s (associated with the vendor, or the vendor itself).

Things get even more intricate, where most ClickBank vendors don’t just sell one product. While your affiliate traffic via hoplinks is meant for one specific product, the vendor can actually presents “upsell” or “one-time” offers, which may accept other non-ClickBank payment methods. This is completely legal. Many of them even use your traffic to promote other advertising programs such as Google AdSense or their other non-ClickBank products. As a matter of fact, many vendors take advantage of ClickBank traffic to mainly profit from other venues. Why not? So even when ClickBank refunds customers, while commissions are subtracted from the affiliate’s account, the vendor can still gain a lot out of the free traffic.

Why does it matter to affiliates? Because traffic is costly. If you use Pay-Per-Click advertising like Google AdWords, once you pay for the service, you’ll never get your money back. But as a ClickBank affiliate, your commissions can be deducted out of your account once the customers ask for refund, which are so easy ClickBank has been known for giving away free digital products! Now you can see why ClickBank affiliates are the losers according to the ClickBank affiliate system.

Working With Clickbank – Clickbank Pros and Cons

Cons:

1) First Check: Getting your first Clickbank check can take time. You have to get multiple sales from multiple credit card companies and a few PayPal sales before Clickbank cuts your first paycheck. If you’re just starting out with Clickbank it takes a while to get sales, so it can often take 30-60 days to receive your first check.

2) Direct Deposit: You have to receive paper checks for the first 90 days before you can receive weekly direct deposits. Paper checks only come every two weeks, where direct deposit is weekly. It’s important to get your money quickly because you’re going to need to invest some back in your business.

3) Scam Products: At least half of the products sold through Clickbank are scams. This means you’re going to get a lot of returns, which will dramatically hurt your earnings. To guard against this use a third-party search and analysis tool that will tell you every product’s return rate. This will help you pick only the products that are of quality and don’t get many refunds. I personally do not promote products that have a return rate above 10 or 20 percent.

4) Email Marketing: If you plan to do e-mail marketing Clickbank does not allow you to use their hoplinks directly in e-mail. You must cloak hoplinks using a service like TinyURL or your own domain name. Clickbank does this to protect themselves from the unscrupulous affiliates who use spam to promote Clickbank. In the past, Clickbank found themselves on many spam lists and it hurt the company, their publishers and affiliates.

5) Sales Notifications: Clickbank does not send out emails notifying affiliates when they have made a sale. This means you have to login to your account throughout the day to keep tabs of your sales. It takes time to login which is troublesome for busy affiliates. There has been some talk that this will change and Clickbank might start sending e-mail notifications. Stay tuned.

Pros:

1) One Affiliate ID: You sign up with Clickbank and you get one ID. This affiliate ID allows you to promote more than 6,000 products. You do not need to sign up with each product individually which is a huge drain on your time. This one feature is why many people choose to market Clickbank versus other programs.

2) Huge Commissions: Since Clickbank only sells digital products you can earn far higher commissions. Most products in the Clickbank marketplace pay 30-70% which is higher than any other affiliate network. It’s not uncommon to earn $25, $50 or $100 per sale. That adds up fast.

3) Payments Come Like Clockwork: Clickbank has never missed a payment. They have never been late. Checks come every two weeks or every week by direct deposit. You never have to worry about not getting paid. If the merchant goes bankrupt, you still get your check because Clickbank manages all the money.

4) Lots of Training Tools: While Clickbank itself doesn’t provide training for affiliates there are many experts that do. There are eBooks, forums, articles and blogs dedicated to the craft of Clickbank marketing. There is a large Clickbank marketing community. There is so much information out there it’s easy to come up to speed fast.

The Death of ClickBank

When was the last time you made $500 a day using ClickBank? Was it within the past 1 or 2 months? Didn’t think so. How much did you spend for Adwords/Yahoo? Was it so low that you that you just skipped a day’s coffee? Didn’t think so. What was your ROI (Return in Investment) after all the time spent, hassles taken, e-books from “Experts” bought and promised dreams of “Financial Freedom”? Was it high enough to quit your job? Didn’t think so. Did you “Fire YOUR Boss” after joining ClickBank? Didn’t think so.

Is ClickBank really what it is claimed to be? Is it really the best way to make money selling digital products in the Business-to-Business or more specifically the ever-so-popular “Internet Marketing” category? Let’s clear our doubts first, ClickBank was definitely the best way to make money by have a Squeeze Page or a redirect, or cloaking your Affiliate ID, having a Review Site and having a killer Adwords Campaign. Back then, even I, getting $500 a day from selling affiliate products was a joke but, that was in the “Google Cash” method days which took the internet by storm about 2 years ago.

ClickBank is still good for a lot of niches but again you have to understand that the fact is, the “Gravity” measure is below 20 for almost all other niche’s except a very select few which shows that there is not much interest in them. Now, there are some fantastic products being sold on ClickBank and let me name a few of them, one being the Keyword Analyzer tool and many others. But, how many “Take Paid Surveys” or “Get Rich Quick” or “Make $500 a day” type “products” do we see DAILY on ClickBank?

ClickBank’s BIGGEST flaw is the fact that you can buy using your OWN affiliate ID to get a discount. This is great if you are interested in buying the product but just imagine if more than 80% of the people were to do that (which is common these days) how much do you think a normal newbie affiliate or for that matter an average affiliate would make? You guessed it, very less after the exorbitant Adwords fees. Even if you cloaked your link and masked the website with precision, a person who signed up to be a ClickBank affiliate is 99% of the time smart enough to know what he is up to when he goes to the Checkout or Order page and when he looks below to see the text “[affiliate=someone]” they will right away change it to THEIR affiliate ID, literally STEALING your commission. Is there a way to counter this? Yes, some gurus suggest there is when you increase the perceived value of the product by giving a quality review, or building a very personally bonded list, but seriously, how many more would you get with this method then normal? 4? 10? Maybe 20? (Being generous here.)

Now Imagine the number of Paid Survey sites or Data Entry Job products on CB, if you look at their Earned/Sale (which is basically how much ON AVERAGE a person makes per sale after fees etc.) is so less, that most of the time if you are entitled to get $45 per sale, the average is usually around $33! This is $12! Less on average! Which means that there are many HARD EARNED commissions which are losing out because of ClickBank’s liberal Refund Policy. Just imagine if you just put in $50 for an Adwords Campaign and got two sales totaling $73 or so in commissions and you just got a refund (to which you have no control over) you just made a loss. Now you may say a loss of just about $5-10 but if you total the amount of time, energy, testing, trial and error that took place from you part, it would be A HUGE LOSS.

Now, if you aren’t making any money off of ClickBank, then WHO IS?

Let me rephrase the question, if most of the buyers are abusing the liberal “Refund Policy” of ClickBank and most of the users are trying to use their own Affiliate Hop link then who is making the money? That Link Cloaking software you purchased for quite some cash didn’t tell you about Refunds or this fact. Well, you guessed it, THE MERCHANT. It is a WIN-WIN-WIN situation for him/her. Let me elaborate, even if he/she does not get a sale, he/she will get a future prospect or Lead which will either

a) Opt-in to his/her list

b) Get his/her name known to the world in case he/she does not have a prior portfolio

c) CASH CASH CASH. Either it is from your affiliate ID or someone else’s affiliate ID, it doesn’t matter, they rake in the cash no matter what and the more the merrier.

D) He/she now gets to use those earnings from ClickBank he received because of people like YOU to hype up his next sales letter and his next “Proof of Earnings” Section.

Now you being a disgruntled affiliate will end up bidding on Keywords for Adwords and after all the effort would still not see the results you are promised or made to “dream” on the plentiful E-books which are collecting dust on your hard drive by now. Why? Because the people who will buy from the Adwords Ads will be the people who are NOT a part of ClickBank affiliates at all, these are most probably total Newbie’s who just happened to search and you know what? There aren’t many of those any more, in fact, it doesn’t even matter, the odds of them converting are pretty rare.

So getting back to the original point. There is a trick where you make your Domain URL similar to the Official URL which works but again, only to the “Non-ClickBank viewers.”

So why are the people showing all those huge checks and $$$ out of no where? Well, because these are part of the Merchant’s “inner circle” that get hold of the buzz of the product’s launch and are 1 week ahead of everyone. What these people do is, literally squash all the little affiliates who are not part of the “inner circle” by aggressively marketing on Adwords and sending a killer sales pitch to all their Lists and giving away bonuses and what not. These amount for more than 30% of the sales that the merchants get, often times these people are less that 10! The next kind as I said earlier are the people who buy using their own affiliate ID to get their discount to see “what this buzz is all about” and they amount to over 55-60% of the people. The remaining 10-15% is for average affiliates.

Now, is it worth the effort to be part of this very little percentage and add to the fact the refund policy, merchant’s bad service rapport leading to even bigger problems of the people who bought from your “review website” to ever find it credible again. Now not all of the people struggle but indefinitely, the people who do are the new guys on the game, these are the guys who have been “catching up on the gold rush” so to speak what did they end up getting? Yet, these are the guys the “Gurus” aggressively market, when I mean aggressively, these are the “target market” for them because they will spend anything to fill the gaps, to “crack the code” to “get the secret” to “beat their competition.” But for how long?

These are some of the quotes that some affiliate friends I know say “This is the last e-book I will pretty much ever buy. I’ve had enough of this; seriously, I bought pretty much 30 e-books by now.”

“The information was nothing new, not saying that it wasn’t good but again, I honestly believe that gone are the days where you could use CB for affiliate products because everyone will use their affiliate ID and buy the e-book to get the discount.”

Gurus claim as if being an affiliate will bring HUGE sales of their product and therefore hype up their e-book. All they would do is get sales off of newbie affiliates who haven’t made a killing using ClickBank. Let me give you an example, would be able to sell a “Get rich quick” E-book to Bill Gates? Why Not? Because he is rich, he is NOT the target market. But, if you pitched the same thing to a guy who is working as a store clerk who thinks his life sucks and what are the chances of him buying? You know the answer.

The Quality of products in ClickBank is decreasing and because of high refund rates, the merchants are over-pricing their products, what would have been worth no more than $29 last year is worth more than $97 now, so that they can recuperate from the high refund rates.

Because of this, the “new” buzz is to create physical products to sell at exorbitant prices and decrease the refund rates. ClickBank means well and their refund policy is an example of that, however, the quality and honesty of their merchants is up for questioning as it’s not the merchant or his/her Super Affiliates (i.e. friends from inner circle) but YOU as a common average Joe who is getting affected because, YOU are spending your energy every single day, YOU are spending your hard-earned money on advertising and YOU face the consequences if it doesn’t work out. You got no one to blame at the end if you burn your money on a Scam Artist selling via ClickBank at the end of the day.

I’m not going to lie to you however, I do make enough money using other alternatives and some niche products on ClickBank but the fact is, it isn’t easy, nor will it make you enough to make fun of your boss. So, it is important for you to stand up on your feet and be down to earth on your successes and accept your failures before it is too late. I however, found my success on eBay by using techniques and softwares that are virtually unknown by 99% of the people who venture the affiliate marketing and more specifically Internet Marketing arena. ClickBank Questions

It would seem that Clickbank would provide more for their customers. Obviously, when it comes to internet marketing and affiliate programs, you could put it in your top 10 links. No other database of affiliate programs offers such a possibility for profit on either the affiliate side or the product creation site. And you can’t beat the fact that the commissions from over 10,000 products get consolidated into one check. But there are still a few lingering questions that may get you thinking.

What is up with the site? I mean, a site shouldn’t be overly complex. In fact, complexity can be a turn off. Then again, I have found more complex site templates from free sites. And it’s not just that. How many of you Clickbank affiliates have found news about Clickbank or FAQ’s about Clickbank on a forum, clicked the link and the FAQ is on the Clickbank domain. But, if you go to the Clickbank homepage, there is no link to the page you just visited.

I don’t know about you, but if I were running a business, I would make sure that customers and vendors could get all of the information possible and not have to find out news through third party sources.

But, on the other hand, I can’t complain. The checks do come in. I have never had to search for a customer service link on the site, because there has been no reason to. You make sales and you get a check. It’s that simple and I have never found anyone who says otherwise.

Then you’ve got to wonder about the search feature. There is none. But why? For one reason, if Clickbank itself had a search feature, any internet user who is familiar with Clickbank clicking on an affiliate’s hoplink could recognize this. They could then go to Clickbank and buy the product under their own affiliate ID at up to 75% off, which wouldn’t matter much to Clickbank or the product seller, at least in the beginning. They still collect their cash.

But eventually, the product seller would notice a drop in sales. Affiliates would become less than satisfied with the results of all their hard work and stop working as hard to make sales that weren’t coming in anyway. Therefore, there would be less advertising of the product in total. You can’t underestimate the value of an affiliate army who are rewarded accordingly.

There are plenty of third party products available that will essentially build a search engine on a Clickbank affiliate’s site for them.

Even without this, there are some out there who know what a Clickbank Hoplink looks like and just where to put their own Clickbank ID in order to make a commission for themselves.

Should the affiliates themselves be responsible for protecting their sales. I don’t think so. Of course there are products that can help you protect your links, but shouldn’t the responsibility rest on the product developer. Our heroes, the third-party software developers, come to the rescue again by providing software to do this for you, but only a few of the product developers selling through Clickbank rely on these products. This leaves a lot of affiliate out in the cold, relying on link cloaking to protect their sales.

I love when I sign up for an affiliate program and click the link assigned to me to test it out and I am delivered to the main page of the site. There is no “?hop=” behind the URL, just “http://www.mysite.com.” This lets me know that my only job is to get the word out on the product and not become an expert on encryption just to make a sale. Just to let you developers know out there, it is also great not to create a link for affiliates from any page designed for sales. You’ve just defeated any work we as affiliates or you as a responsible marketer have done to save our commissions. Send the link after the sales if you want to but don’t treat your affiliates like dirt by telling their lead that they can get a 50% discount by signing up for your affiliate program.

Another reason for product developers to check out link cloaking software: link popularity. If you use the conventional hoplink, Clickbank gets a link back to their site. If the affiliate has to encrypt the link himself, no one gets the link credit. If you buy one of these scripts, your affiliates will advertise a link that points to your site. Just something to think about.

Then there is sales notices. There are none. There used to be a time when Clickbank would send you an e-mail each and every time you made a sale. Spam? Only if you consider a check from the IRS junk mail. Personally, Clickbank could fill my inbox to the limits with notices like this. But this service is no longer there.

I don’t want to even start with Clickbank’s sales reports functions. Lets just say that they could be improved, a lot.

This is even another area where third party vendors lend a helping hand. You can create affiliate sales reports, profit reports, send e-mails to your customers, and even graph sales trends with such software. Some are scripts that you run on your site. These will send out a thank you e-mail, add the customer to your database and even activate an autoreponder to send out e-mails to your customers in the future. Others allow to have multiple products, multiple sites, and only one Clickbank account.

So what am I trying to say? Just that with the money you would think Clickbank is making, it seems that they could create a more elaborate, user-friendly site. Despite this, you can’t beat Clickbank for high commissions and consolidated payments. In fact, some of the holes in the Clickbank system has allowed some innovative software developers to step in and provide very useful tools. Those who use Clickbank to sell their products should take notice and guarantee an effective affiliate sales force by at least checking these solutions out. In turn, they will be rewarded with more sales and affiliates who trust them.
